The AP reports that Pele is currently receiving “elevated care” for kidney and heart problems and that local doctors have revealed that the soccer legend’s cancer has advanced.
The 82-year-old’s daughter provided an update on Tuesday, stating that, “for various reasons,” the family will stay with Pele at the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo over the Christmas break.
“We, as always, thank you for all the love you show us here in Brazil as well as around the world!” Kely Nascimento said on Instagram.
“Your love for him and your stories and prayers are a HUGE comfort because we know we are not alone.”

According to Kely, the family has plans to celebrate the holiday at the hospital and will make it extra special.
“We are going to turn this room into a Sambódromo (just kidding), we will even make caipirinhas (not kidding!!).”
“We wish everyone who celebrates a Christmas that filled with family, full of children, some fighting 🤷🏽 ♀️ and TONS of Love and Health !!”

Pele is regarded as the greatest soccer player of all time and won the 1958, 1962, and 1970 World Cups.
His health has been the subject of conflicting reports lately; last month, Kely denied that the Brazilian hero was having problems with his chemotherapy.
Pele, get well soon.
